  2. Dell'Aquila of Ohio. This is verbal confirmation from the Senator
  3. himself of the famous "Blue Room" incident, which heretofore we only
  4. knew about from his letters and from an interview in a questionable
  5. publication.

  9. STATEMENT BY SENATOR BARRY GOLDWATER CONCERNING UFOs ON LARRY
  10. KING RADIO SHOW, OCTOBER 13, 1988:

  13. CALLER:    Hello Senator Goldwater, I've heard in the past that 
  14.            you have an interest in UFOs. I just finished a book 
  15.            called, "Above Top Secret," by Timothy Goode, where 
  16.            three or four of your letters are quoted concerning
  17.            your attempts to enter Wright-Patterson Air Force 
  18.            Base.

  20. SENATOR
  21. GOLDWATER: Uh-hum.

  23. CALLER:    Do you believe that the government is withholding 
  24.            information on UFOs? 
  25.  
  26. SENATOR
  27. GOLDWATER: Yes I do.  But I don't know enough about the subject
  28.            involving Wright-Pat. to form any opinion.  I
  29.            remember when I first tried to get into that room out
  30.            at Wright-Pat. and I went to General Curtis LeMay, an
  31.            old friend of mine, and asked him.  He used some 
  32.            pretty plain language and in effect, told me to "go 
  33.            to hell" and...

  36. KING:      That's the room where they are rumored to have 
  37.            aliens?

  39. SENATOR
  40. GOLDWATER: Well, its a storage room where they are supposed to
  41.            have some of the evidence they've collected relative
  42.            to Unidentified Flying Objects.  I have never...I
  43.            wouldn't argue against them.  I wouldn't argue for
  44.            them.  My only thinking on it is this planet of ours
  45.            is one of several billion planets in this universe. 
  46.            I can't believe that God or whomever is in charge
  47.            would put thinking bodies on only one planet.  So I'm
  48.            a firm believer that  something  can fly around here
  49.            that the Wright Brothers didn't have anything to do
  50.            with.
